How can I travel around the UK with freedom and flexibility?
That’s exactly what caravans, campervans and motorhomes are made for: they let you decide how you want to travel throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, not just where.
Across the Bailey of Bristol range, there’s something for every type of traveller. From lightweight, tow-anywhere caravans to fully self-contained motorhomes and compact campervans built for spontaneous escapes. Each one gives you flexibility in its own way. The trick is knowing which version of freedom you’re really after.
What vehicle suits your kind of freedom?
What freedom looks like in a caravan
If you love weekend breaks that feel longer than they are and refresh you for the new week, then a caravan might suit you best. Tow it to wherever looks green and peaceful, then unhook and explore by car. You can pick a spot and feel like you’ve built a new little home for the weekend.
What freedom looks like in a camper van
If you’d rather pack once, hop in, and go anywhere on a road trip, from beach car parks to winding mountain roads, a campervan is highly recommended. It’s just drive, park, sleep, repeat. There’s a reason people talk about ‘van life’ so much, and it’s because this type of vehicle permits so much freedom.
What freedom looks like in a motorhome
And if you want to go further and stay longer, a motorhome gives you complete independence. It’s got more living space and more storage than a campervan but with similar independence. This makes it a more comfortable van to live in longer term and can generally accommodate more people.
Bailey has models that suit all three styles of travel, so let’s look at what makes each one potentially perfect for your break.
The perfect caravans for freedom & flexibility
Phoenix Black Edition: Comfortable & Capable
The Phoenix Black Edition is the kind of caravan that makes freedom feel easy. The range is at the lightweight end, with MTPLMs ranging from 1,142kg to 1,467kg, which opens up a world of flexibility before you’ve even hit the road. You can tow it with a wide range of tow vehicles and it’s a good choice for beginners to towing and caravanning in general.
With one 2 berth layout and four 4 berth layouts in the range, there is a layout for everyone, whether you are a family, couple or single, travelling with children, pets or kit for hobbies and sports.
Each caravan has a kitchen, washroom and lounge and comes with features like an oven and hob, microwave, fridge, plenty of storage, shower, sink, toilet and heating system.
Inside, the Phoenix feels bigger than it looks. The extra-large front infinity window floods the lounge with light, so even on grey mornings in the Lakes, it still feels open and cheerful.
It’s these small, clever layout details that give you more freedom once you’ve arrived.
Pegasus Grande Black Edition: Spacious & Equipped
If you like the idea of turning a few nights away into a proper little escape, the Pegasus Grande Black Edition gives you that room-to-breathe feeling that makes all the difference.
The 8ft-wide body actually changes how you use the space. There’s more space to move around the caravan and two of the layouts (Brindisi and Bologna) have a wraparound L-Shaped lounge that gives you more space to relax. The Amalfi has the most berths in the range, will sleep 6 and has bunkbeds and a double bed at the back of the caravan.
It’s also cleverly set up for those who’d prefer to stay somewhere a little more rural. The 130-watt solar panel quietly keeps your power topped up for lights, charging, and music, so you can park somewhere peaceful and stay put as long as you like.
Even the small details are designed for flexibility: the two-part habitation door allows you to let air into the van while keeping pets inside, and the drop-down worktop extension in the kichen allows you to extend your kitchen space while preparing food.
For families and couples who want to travel where they please, in comfort that lasts all year round, the Pegasus feels like a proper home away from home.

The perfect motorhomes for freedom & flexibility
Autograph: Fully-equipped for freedom
The Autograph is the motorhome for anyone who wants to travel in absolute comfort or plan longer trips away.
It’s built for comfort and convenience with twin 95Ah leisure batteries, a 200-watt solar panel and Alde radiator heating that keeps every inch warm. Whether you are using a campsite hook-up or parking overnight at a motorhome stop-off point, you’ll have all the facilities you need to stay warm, comfortable and connected.
It’s also designed to be practical for real touring over longer than just a weekend. The spacious rear garage gives you plenty of space to store your kit and is heated so your kit stays warm and dry or can be dried out after a day’s adventuring. There’s a Thule Omnistor wind-out awning, fixing points for a rear mounted cycle rack and a Peugeot 2.2 litre engine with an 8-speed gearbox, in-vehicle infotainment system and rearview reversing camera.
Depending on the layout you choose, payloads range up to more than 1,200kg, which gives you room for everything from paddleboards to a week’s worth of food. Inside you have a lounge, washroom, kitchen and double beds which are either fixed or dropdown. There are premium quality fixtures and fittings in chrome and matt black, and a choice of soft furnishings, including an Aquaclean option that is practical and easy to clean with just water.
The Autograph suits travellers who like to head off for a few weeks and just see where the road takes them. It’s a reliable motorhome ready for genuine adventure.

The perfect campervans for freedom & flexibility
Endeavour: Follows your instinct
The Endeavour range is Bailey’s first campervan, and we’ve put into it everything we’ve learned from decades of building touring vehicles. It’s compact (under 6 metres), so it fits on a standard driveway and can handle small village lanes without any effort. Yet it still sleeps two to four depending on the model and feels surprisingly open inside.
There are four layouts to choose from, including two with pop-tops and twin rear travel seats, so you can bring friends or grown-up kids along when the mood strikes. Bailey have also achieved Ford Pro Convertor status which means that our campervan conversions are high quality and reliable.
The 200-watt solar panel and Truma Diesel Combi heating mean you can stay warm and powered wherever you end up. And because it’s built to withstand extremes, tested down to –15°C and across the Saharan desert, you know it’ll handle British weather without complaint.
With a front flexi-lounge, fully equipped kitchen, space saving washroom and Truma Diesel Combi D4E heating, it’s packed with features to make your holidays comfortable and convenient.
The Endeavour is for people who like to be able to pack up and go as the mood takes you. It’s your base for a night on Dartmoor, a weekend by the coast, or an unplanned detour alike.
Endurance: Keeping you wild at heart
If the Endeavour is versatile, the Endurance is its bolder sibling. Built on a rugged Ford Transit Trail platform, it’s ready for tougher tracks and wilder stopovers. The all-weather tyres, market-leading insulation, Truma Diesel Combi heating, and rearview reversing camera make it ideal for rural campsites or the kind of coastal lanes that usually make you take a sharp intake of breath at their beauty.
Two 80Ah AGM leisure batteries and a 130-watt solar panel give it enough stamina to last your entire weekend away. Add the optional Adventure Pack, which gives you extra solar panels and roof lighting, and a roof rack and ladder, and add a roof-top TentBox, and you’ve got a campervan that feels closer to an expedition vehicle.
Everything’s still under 3,500kg, so you can drive the Endurance on a standard licence, and there’s an automatic gearbox option if you prefer an easier drive on longer routes.
Endurance is the perfect campervan for anyone who wants to mix classic touring with proper off-the-beaten-path exploring.
How to choose your version of freedom
Before you start looking at layouts or finishes, think about how you like to travel. Ask yourself three simple questions:
How often do you move sites?
If you like setting up somewhere and really settling in, a caravan’s a good idea: you can unhitch and use your car for day trips. If you prefer to move every day or two, deciding to travel in a campervan UK, or motorhome, will likely be more your style.
Where do you like to stay?
Love small, tucked-away rural campsites? Campervans might be easier for you to drive down the narrow country lanes to reach where you’re staying. However, if you prefer full-facility sites or longer stays? Caravans and motorhomes are just as convenient as campervans while offering more space.
Do you want space or spontaneity?
An 8ft caravan gives you the comfort of more space, while a 6m campervan wins on being able to go anywhere (within reason!).
