What is good for the planet is also good for business

Which is why waste reduction and energy management remain central to our thinking. As a consequence Bailey was the first company in our industry to implement a waste recycling scheme and in doing so we have been able to drastically reduce the amount of waste products sent to landfill sites.

We are currently partnered with a leading waste management company working on the segregation and recycling of commodities such as timber (all forms), aluminium, ferrous metal, polystyrene, vinyl, paper, cardboard, plastic film and foodstuffs. Annually this equates to 720 tons of waste products which is the equivalent in weight to 480 caravans or 205 motorhomes.

Recently we have taken this programme to the next level after partnering with leading local company ETM Group to take over our waste management programme. Their state-of-the-art Waste Transfer Centre, located less than one mile away from our South Liberty Lane production plant, is capable of segregating and recycling 98% of all our mixed commercial waste received to divert it away from landfill sites.

We are also working closely with our leading suppliers to help reduce the amount of packaging they use when delivering the components required to manufacture our leisure vehicles. Where possible we are encouraging the use of reusable returnable packaging to minimize waste and as a result components such as exterior doors, windows, wheels and tyres are now delivered without any disposable packing materials at all.

Examples of these joint initiatives with our supplier partners include leisure vehicle wheels and tyres which are now bound to the pallet using returnable straps instead of single use plastic film.

The recycling culture remains prevalent throughout all areas of the business to the extent that every employee is issued with their own reusable hot drink cup and cold water bottle meaning that the use of disposable containers has been all but eliminated on site.
