We have made the transition from the Bailey Snow Season in Austria to the Bailey Splash Season and are now back in the New Forest working as wardens at Green Hill Farm Caravan and Camping park for the summer.
The first thing we did when we got back was to setup our Bailey Pegasus Brindisi and Isabella Universal 420 awning up before we started work. The warden job works perfectly for us; it slots in nicely around our winter plans and we really enjoy the buzz of working on a campsite and meeting lots of people. The New Forest itself is an amazing place to be in the summer, and with the New Forest Water Park just 15 minutes away it means we can fit some wakeboard action in during our days off.
Life on the campsite is busy, between running reception, cleaning, running activities and pulling pints in the bar; no day is ever the same. Towing caravans in and out of storage and helping customers set up on their pitches is where our caravanning experience comes in handy. Throughout the summer we get to meet lots of lovely people, they are always interested to hear about our travels and it's nice to spread the word about winter caravanning! When we have friends and family visiting our favourite thing to do is get the BBQ going and relax by the picturesque wildlife pond (the ducks and geese always come over expecting to be fed!) You can't beat a nice summer evening BBQ while caravanning.
As the temperature has been rising we had the lovely team from Truma visit us to install an Aventa Aircon unit to our Pegasus Brindisi. The air conditioning unit is now all synced up with the iNet box which makes it super easy to use - you can either use the remote control, the smartphone app or the iNet box. The installation was quick and simple. There was a choice of colour for the trim too, so it looks great and we like the nice addition of the mood lighting strips along each side. When we are cooking the 'vent' mode works great to circulate air and avoid it getting too steamed up inside. The weather has been all over the place for the last couple of weeks so we simply have our iNet box set to 'auto' with the temperature that we want so the combi heater & Aventa systems work together to either cool or heat the caravan. How clever is that!
Working as a warden can be really tiring at times. During the school holidays the days are long and can be stressful (rainy days are always the worst!) but it's worth it to be able to enjoy the perks of staying in our caravan and enjoying such a beautiful area.
