Bailey of Bristol is delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Coley as their new Group Chief Financial Officer. This move follows the announcement that Chris Harvey is stepping down as Financial Director after 15 years with the company to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
Mike joins existing Non-Executive Chairman Jon Aisbitt and Non-Executive Director Steve Trossell on the board of the newly formed Bailey Holdings Limited as part a top-level restructuring programme. The new holding company will sit above the three operational arms of the organisation, Bailey UK (BUK), Bailey Parts and Accessories (Prima Leisure) and Bailey Australia (BAU), to set the overall group strategy to create a better integrated business
In spite of this change in both structure and personnel Bailey will remain in Howard family ownership with Nick Howard (Managing Director) and Simon Howard (Marketing Director) also joining the board of the holding company.
Mike is a Chartered Certified Accountant and began his career in the financial services industry in the late 1980’s becoming Financial Controller of a National Westminster Bank subsidiary company in 1995. Mike joined Clarks Shoes in 1997, a large and successful global family business headquartered in South West England, and enjoyed 20 years in financial management roles there overseeing a period of growth including the international expansion of the business, more latterly as the Group Financial Controller. Mike’s Clarks career culminated in him becoming Group Chief Financial Officer in 2015.
In his new role as Bailey Group Chief Financial Officer Mike will be working with the other members of the holding company Board to help establish a financial strategy for the profitable long-term growth of the business.
Chris Harvey has been an extremely loyal and well-respected member of the Bailey team over many years and has played an important part in making Bailey the successful business it is today. Chris will work with Mike on the knowledge transfer process over the next three months and will leave the business in June.
Founded in 1948 Bailey Caravans is the longest established UK independent manufacturer with seventy years’ experience in leisure vehicle production and design. During this period, it has grown to become not only the UK’s favourite caravan brand, accounting for approximately one in three new caravan sales, but also one of the largest producers in Europe. More recently, in 2011, the company brought this same level of expertise to the motorhome market as well as expanding into new exports markets as far afield as Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.
Today Bailey employs over 600 local people across its three sites in Bristol and currently manufactures 7,500 leisure vehicles per year to generate an annual turnover in excess of £130 million.
Commenting on these developments Bailey Managing Director Nick Howard said “ we are very excited about Mike’s arrival as part of this top-level restructure. We feel it offers the Bailey Group of Companies the best chance of success in the future as we look to galvanise the inherent enthusiasm and expertise within the business to strengthen our position within the marketplace”.
