Bailey of Bristol’s growing stature as motorhome manufacturer has again been emphasised with the receipt of a prestigious Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly (MMM) & Which Motorhome award for the second year running.
This time it was the company’s six-berth Approach Autograph 765 model which took the acclaim by winning the coveted Family Motorhome of the Year title.
Expert judges from both magazines inspected all of the new models currently available on the UK market and assessed them for build quality, layout functionality and practicality, vehicle performance on site and on the road as well as overall value for money. Based on this list of criteria, in the face of stiff competition from motorhomes manufactured across Europe, they judged the Autograph 765 to be the best vehicle in this class.
Commenting on the result Daniel Attwood, Managing Editor of Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly, said: “Exceptional specification for the money and a clever design that allows a family of six to travel in total safety and relax in comfort when they get on site set this Bailey apart as the clear winner.”
The judges were also particularly appreciative of Bailey’s efforts to ensure the safety of all passengers in the vehicle through its crash test simulation programme carried out at the internationally renowned Millbrook Proving Ground. Read more on this ground-breaking research here.
As with all Autograph models the 765 is built using the patented GRP-clad Alu-Tech bodyshell, which is married to a fully-specified Peugeot Boxer Euro 5 cab, powered by a 2.2 Hdi 130 bhp engine and a new ultra-low profile lightweight AL-KO AMC chassis to provide the very best in on-the-road performance. The combined with striking new looks both inside and out plus a five-star specification, including an Alde central heating system, make the Autograph range a very attractive proposition.
But what really sets this model apart is its unique layout. The 765 is a genuine low-profile family motorhome which provides six berths and, crucially, six three-point belted travel seats. Its unique talent is the ceiling mounted longitudinal drop-down bed above the side dinette which provides an additional double sleeping space without compromising accessibility to the rest of the living area.
Editor of Which Motorhome magazine and head of the judging panel, Peter Vaughan, commented: “Bailey’s combination of high specification and value for money is well-known now, but the drop-down bed here adds real innovation in this class.”
The Approach Autograph 625 also received a commendation in the Non-Fixed Bed Coachbuilt Motorhome of the Year category, an award which its predecessor (the Approach SE 625) won twelve months ago. The receipt of these two new third-party endorsements means that Bailey Alu-Tech leisure vehicles have now collected in excess of sixty-five accolades from leading industry sources over the past five years.
Bailey would like to thank both MMM and Which Motorhome Magazines for running their annual awards competition and, as always, is very grateful for any recognition given to its caravan and motorhome ranges.
